NEW YORK, NY, June 4, 2009—On June 4, 2009, Global-5 Communications was awarded a coveted 2009 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Global-5 stood out among agencies across the country for superior design and implementation of media relations for a government agency. Bronze Anvil Award winners were recognized during the 2009 Silver Anvil Awards Evening held June 4 at the Equitable Tower in New York.
The award-winning entry, titled “Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Media Events Drives Florida Toward a Thankful Holiday,” outlined Global-5’s media plan for increasing awareness for FDOT’s 511 Traveler Information System before Thanksgiving.
To help travelers prepare for holiday travel, Global-5 coordinated media events on November 24 and 25, 2008 at FDOT’s Traffic Management Centers (TMC) in Orlando, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. Major media outlets were invited to interview 511 representatives as well as representatives from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), AAA Auto Club South and regional airports. Broadcast television coverage reached more than 2 million people and print and online coverage reached more than 2.5 million people. During the week of Thanksgiving, average 511 call volumes increased by more than 100 percent.
PRSA, headquartered in New York City, is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals with nearly 32,000 professional and student members.
