It takes a team of talented individuals to produce a good video, but at a recent Global-5 video shoot, Bogey the beagle was the star of the show.
Bogey’s appearance, courtesy of Birds & Animals Unlimited, was just one of the elements orchestrated by Global-5, which included location, lighting, actors, cameras and props. While the dog is sure to bring the audience a smile, the video has a larger purpose: educating truckers about automatic emergency braking and other advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Improving safety by accelerating the adoption of ADAS is the primary goal of Tech-Celerate Now, a project of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office. Global-5 is working with Noblis, the prime contractor, to produce a series of videos highlighting the safety benefits of specific ADAS technologies. Other Tech-Celerate Now partners include the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), American Trucking Associations (ATA) and Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).
According to FMCSA, ADAS technologies, which include braking, steering, warning and monitoring systems, have the potential to prevent fatalities, injuries and crashes. Encouraging the adoption of these potentially life-saving technologies is just one example of how Global-5 promotes transportation safety and efficiency through effective communication.
