Global-5 program managers took the firm’s thought leadership on the road with speaking engagements at two high-profile industry events. These speaking engagements are part of Global-5’s initiative to raise the profile of communications work within the transportation industry.
Gabriel Smith, who manages our work with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO), spoke to Transpo 2024 participants about the importance of communicating ITS for public acceptance. Transpo is an annual event hosted jointly by ITS Florida and Florida Puerto Rico District, Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Gabriel shared with his audience how focusing on the benefits of ITS helps communicators break through the public’s apathy about new technology. He also shared Global-5’s success in communicating ITS through videos, tradeshow exhibits, and blog posts.
Global-5 Vice President Mike Wacht, who manages stakeholder relationships for the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate project, was invited to speak to the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) Emerging Leaders Academy. Mike shared with participants an overview of Global-5’s outreach on the Interstate 4 (I-4) and Sand Lake Road construction project.
Mike provided an overview of the different media types Global-5 uses to keep residents and visitors informed of construction progress and traffic impacts at the I-4 and Sand Lake Road project. He also covered two case studies: one on how Global-5 manages the project’s relationship with high-value stakeholders, and one on the multimedia outreach and advertising campaign to inform drivers about the coming changeover of the interchange to a diverging diamond.
