When Hurricane Matthew was bearing down on Florida in 2016, Global-5 engaged Florida’s emergency management community to raise awareness of the Florida 511 Traveler Information System as a tool to facilitate evacuations. A year later, Global-5’s messaging spread on social media and the news media statewide and across the nation as more than 6 million Floridians prepared to escape Hurricane Irma. The public relations effort Global-5 conducted on behalf of Florida 511 was included in a case study the National Operations Center of Excellence published in 2019.
